Ch'ail plates have the unmistakable white finish of Amatenango del Valle, where Mari, Esperanza and their family work hard to develop new shapes and processes, keeping alive the pottery tradition of their community.
The particular shine and soft texture of these pieces is the result of using clay slips from the arid lands of the Mixteca, polished and bathed in beeswax when they come out of the kiln, to make them more waterproof.
